I haven’t written shit on this blog for nearly a month. And I don’t see the point in writing shit now. For two completely contradictory reasons.
The first reason can be summed up nicely by this bullshit:
During this past week: McCain called the most important entitlement program in the U.S. a disgrace, his top economic adviser called the American people whiners, McCain released an economic plan that no one thought was serious, he flip flopped on Iraq, joked about the deaths of Iranian citizens, and denied making comments that he clearly made — TWICE. All this and it is not even Friday!
That is all true. I could spend twenty minutes of my time finding several links to every one of those claims (For amusing results, try this search for ‘McCain denies’ on Google News). I would waste that fucking time, too, so I’m not going to bother. Because I’m preaching to either the converted or the retarded. It’s not worth the effort. No newspaper or magazine in the world would publish the feces I would fling at the people who can’t be bothered to understand the difference between what they want and what they need.
This post has nothing to do with Barack Obama. He’s a politician, and a damn fine one. It don’t really have shit to do with John McCain, either. I don’t even hate him that much. I just know an angry old man when I see one.
It has to do with the fact that the political climate in the United States is such that people would rather be told a fairy tale than the truth, and are easier to scare than to inspire. And because democracy says that these idiots are in charge of their own destiny, they get what they deserve.
There’s no point in criticizing the goddamn media when the goddamn media is — however half-assed and grudgingly it may be — reporting the goddamn news. I spent just 30 seconds searching and linked two of those “Huffington Post” stories above to the Associated Press reports. Take the same 30 seconds I did and imagine the outrage if there were AP stories out there with Obama calling Social Security “a disgrace” and joking about killing Iranians with Tobacco. Hell, Obama gets enough heat just for occasionally lighting up himself.

So it’s not that this stuff isn’t being reported. It’s that it’s not picking up steam. And that’s depressing. Because beleive me, the media is a starving beast for this shit and if there was an interest and demand out there in really raking McCain over the coals, somebody would be doing it up, in true ‘DisgraceGate’ and ‘KillingSmokeGate’ style.
But they’re not. Maybe because to the public it feels like picking on your Grandpa. Maybe because it’s easier to pick on the black guy. Maybe because they’d rather take the easy way out. Maybe they’re too dumb to give a fuck and maybe they’re smarter than anyone and Obama really is a secret Muslim.
Regardless, reasoned criticism is out of style. And since I don’t feel like playing tennis against the wall, I’m totally good with resorting to name calling, you stump-dumb motherfuckers.
We invented sports and reality television for a reason, you willfully ignorant douchebags. Leave the blind partisan loyalty on the fucking playing field and pay attention to the world like a thinking person.
I reserve the right to advocate for what’s best for you, because you don’t make the effort to figure it out for yourself.
If that made you angry, slap yourself in the face and wake the fuck up.
The other reason I don’t want to write anything is because I can’t write shit about the Detroit Red Wings right now without coming across like the target of my own above rant. Damn, I love those guys. But I also read all the news, so fuck you.
